This blog post provides a step-by-step guide for setting up a limited company in Ireland.
The whole registration process can be classified into:
- Step 1: Data collection
- Step 2: Documents verification.
- Step 3: Constitution signing
- Step 4: Get certificate of incorporation
Step 1: Data Collection
There are a couple of things that you need to arrange before you proceed with the registration process.
- Your new company name suggestions.
- Registered business address with Eircode.
- Details of the directors and secretary.
- How are you planning to distribute shares?

Company Name
- Finalize at least 3 names for your new company that clearly stands out from the ones that already registered with the CRO.
- Those should be unique and distinct names that uphold your brand identity and meet the CRO’s criteria.
- Once the name reservation is completed, we move to the next step, document verification.

Registered Business Address
- It has to be evident that the new company will conduct its operations within Ireland upon registration.
- So make sure you have finalized your business registered address before registration.
Yes you can use your home address as your registered business address.
Directors & Secretary
- You need at least 2 people to register a Company. Ie, One Director and a Secretary
- If you have more than one Director, the second one can also become the Secretary
- Limited companies: You have to deal with two types of taxes. One is Corporation Tax, and the other is Value Added Tax (VAT).

Step 2: Documents Verification
- Documents required are the copy of passport and latest address proof
- All parties involved in the company must provide these for new company registration
A secured link will be sent to your respective emails for document collection and verification. Once the verification is done, we move to the next step.
Step 3: Constitution Signing
- As per the CRO guidelines, the company constitution will be prepared, signed by all parties and submitted back to the CRO.

Step 4: Get Certificate of Incorporation
- CRO will process the applications depends on the queue
- Normally within 7-10 working days, the company will be registered
- Once it is registered, you will get the incorporation certificate via email
